Although impressive, as stated in the D1133, we fail to see the benefit in this feature without a touch screen, but we look forward to future versions that take advantage of Windows 7's multitouch capabilities. You can even bend the display back so it lies parallel to the tabletop with its face up toward the ceiling. A large silver arm extends from the base and attaches to a 18.4-inch LCD monitor that offers a wide range of vertical motion. The D1130 retains the same shape and design as the models that came before it. The generous 18.4-inch LCD is a nice bonus, but not enough to offset the price performance of traditional budget desktops, like the Gateway SX2800-01, which offer a far better value for the same price. With its puny 1.6GHz Intel Atom chip, 1GB of memory, and integrated Intel graphics chip, this self-contained desktop offers little appeal in terms of specs and performance. nVidia ION chipset adds 4x's the power and life to the system and extends memory max to 4gb on Atom 330 only. The Averatec D1130 All-In-One is a stripped-down version of the D1133 we reviewed last month, and while this version cuts the price down to only $399, it also strips away many of the features that gave the higher-end model some value. Has 1000mhz bus, DDR2 800 (4gb max, this is only 2gb max due to chipset) and ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics chip.īoth machines use the same amount of power. Today, go for the other Avarectec 18.4" All-in-one with AMD 1.5ghz Dual Core CPU. An ATOM 330 would have helped, nVidia ION Chipset would have helped even more. 4 years ago this would have been good for the money today but not anymore. Overall Review: The Atom is outdated for 2009 on the GMA945 Chipset (GMA950 Graphics).
Skype video stutters in window'd mode, freezes up on Full screen and distorts audio.įlimsy keyboard flexes with keys pressed in the middle of the board. Had it for about 2hrs before I saw the AMD Dual Core unit with the same price and MUCH better specs, Returned it to the store immediately and swapped for the AMD based unit. Can't play Youtube or Hulu in fullscreen.
Great web cam, Mic and speakers for the package.Ĭons: Unbearably slow with Single Core Atom and GMA950 (Class 5 graphics GPU). I definitely recommend this computer and Newegg to others. I will definitely shop Newegg in the future. I ordered on a Tuesday and had my computer Wednesday night. It was great! The price also does not cause you to break the bank so to say. This was my first experience with Newegg. So far I'm extremely pleased with this computer and have had no issues with it whatsoever. I had it out of the box and in use on the same night I received it. I use this computer for a small home business where I do a lot of typing and it suits my needs to a T. It was extremely easy to connect to my existing wireless home network since it already had the built-in wireless LAN. It also had Windows XP which I prefer over Vista. I have a very small home office so the design was perfect. Overall Review: My laptop had seen better days and this was my replacement after doing a lot of research. Pros: Nice space saving design, adjustable monitor, Windows XP instead of Vista, easy to set up right out of the box - just plug it in, built-in wireless, has 5 USB ports, media card reader, CD/DVD burner.
Hopefully this information helps anyone else that runs into this problem.
Overall Review: Would buy again since I now know how to fix the USB issue. Only thing I found to fix it was a reformat and stay away from Averatec's CD and original install!
Tried several things, including a re-install from the supplied recovery CD.still did not correct it.įinally, I did an install from a separate XP SP3 Home OEM CD, downloaded the drivers for the chipset from Intel, and it worked perfectly then!! Not sure what the issue is with how Averatec made the recovery CD or the original image on the harddrive, but I had tried installed the drivers from Intel prior to the clean install from the seperate XP OEM cd, but that did not work either. Upon receiving it I discovered the computer would only recognize the keyboard and mouse and only on the USB ports I had them plugged into on initial boot up. Decent performance for the build.Ĭons: Something is very wrong with the install of the operating system and the drivers, specifically the USB drivers on this machine.
